Peekaboo—one of her favorite games!
Elna and her great uncle David (Barbara’s brother). He has been staying with Brian’s parents for several months and Elna loves him! He is fun, thoughtful, and generous. We have loved getting to know him better!
Fancy dress-ups // One night after the girls were in bed I looked for the red pepper flakes for at least 30 minutes. I never found them and had to eat my pizza without them. The next morning I asked Elna if she’d seen it and she knew right where they were, of course. In her popup tent, which was folded up and put away. No wonder I hadn’t found it. She really likes borrowing my spices. She often has at least one of my spices in her play kitchen. A few weeks ago she went through my barely bought groceries on the counter, found the lemon extract, opened it up, and used up the whole bottle in about 5 minutes. Her little play kitchen had the nicest lemon scent for about a week.
Hattie with Elna’s play cell phone in the popup tent—two of her favorite things.
Harriet was trying to be helpful, but it wasn’t really working out.
This is real life right here—laundry folding a big mess. Elna was practicing her photography on my phone.
My little helper.
She loves talking on the phone. She says “hi” over and over again and it’s very cute.
Reading Angelina Ballerina with Dad.
For over a month our minds and hearts were consumed with my getting tested (and waiting for the results) for a gene that I had a 50% chance of having. These are my test results—I do not have the gene!! We are so filled with gratitude!
While Brian and I were getting my test results, Elna was with her Grandma making chocolate dipped pretzels. So fun!
Eating the pretzels she made with Grandma.
She needed a bandaid, of course. If only all problems could be fixed so easily with a bandaid.
Stake Conference with Grandma Fae.
Hattie is such a lounger! We often find her in this position lounging on the couch or reading.
Saint Patrick’s Day craft.
Happy Saint Patrick’s Day!
Pretty pleased with her new car seat situation. Yay for turning one!
Such a big girl!!
Harriet at her 1-year-old check up with her pediatrician. She was not a fan of the whole experience. I knew it was going to be bad when the sweetest and most bubbly nurse ever started talking to Harriet and measuring her head and Harriet lost it. She started sobbing. She sobbed all the way through measuring her height and weight too. Poor thing had no idea how bad it was going to get—those shots are killer, poor baby!
But I took these right when we got home and she seemed to have gotten over it. Look at those poor legs though. Four shots—two on each leg!
Elna’s postcard that she gets from her Grandpa (my dad) came in the mail 4 days later than it usually does. We thought it was lost. We took this picture so we could show my dad that it had finally come!
Getting your haircut is devastating stuff. Look at those tears!
Elna and Hunter (Brian’s cousin, Jana’s, son). They had a great time playing together during the few days he was here visiting with his Grandma.
They also swam at his hotel a few times and Elna loved that!
We took these girls on their favorite coin rides one day when Brian got home from work because Elna had had a successful quiet time—a first in a long time. She gave up on naps a long time ago, and I finally have given up hope of them ever happening again too. She certainly could use a nap most days, but the freedom to not nap, even if she is exhausted, is just too alluring to Elna. I can hear my mom saying to me when I was little (and probably a teenager too) that I was only cranky because I was tired, and I remember being so bugged that she would say that. (sorry Mom!) I totally get it now! I now tell Elna the same thing and she of course hates hearing that too. “I’m not tired, Mom” as she sobs for no reason at all.
Both of my girls love talking on their fake cell phones. I love listening to Elna have conversations with whatever imaginary person she chooses to.
Me and my sweet girl.
Elna captured this lovely picture of me and Brian doing side planks.
Brian and I made a goal to go to the temple once a month together. My favorite date!
I love keeping up with your family with all your pictures. Keep them coming!
ReplyDeleteLove you!
