Brian had church meetings one Sunday all day, so I took the girls on a Sunday walk after their naps.

Costco fun.

Our neighborhood has a huge garage sale every Father’s Day weekend.  The house two doors down from us puts up a bouncy house for all of the kids, and Elna had an absolute blast!

Elna wanted to go on the merry-go-round, and Hattie wanted the other ride, but we had used our only two quarters, so Brian put her on it and just shook it with his hands, and Harriet never knew the difference.

Look who showed up at swim lessons?  I was totally surprised and so was Elna.  She was so thrilled!

Elna jumping to her teacher, Bob.  Every time she gets a new teacher, she gets very nervous about getting in for lessons.  With Bob, she didn’t get in for her first full lesson until the last 2 minutes of the class.  After that she was fine, but that first day is always hard for her with a new teacher.

A few days later they showed up at swim lessons again!

After swim lessons, DeWin and Barbara stopped by the house to see our backyard and pick berries with Elna.  Elna and Papa got into a little water fight.  Elna thought she was pretty funny when she started it.

Hydrangeas from our backyard.  My favorite!

Raspberry picking in our backyard.  She is the most committed picker in our family.  She asks usually once a day if she can go out an pick raspberries.  She loves to bring in berries to give me and Brian, but mostly she eats them herself.

I love these pictures.  Harriet was in a very affectionate mood, and was initiating all of this hugging.  She’s a sweet girl and I love their relationship!

Sick kids and a beach trip.

IMG_7516

This girl had a 102.2 temperature and was very sweet and cuddly.  She fell asleep in my arms for over an hour—something that hasn’t happened since she was an infant, and I was just soaking up her love.  I didn’t have anything but my phone nearby (I would have loved a book!), so I took a few pictures of her sweetness.

The day after she had her fever she had her 15 month checkup with her doctor.  You can still see that she isn’t feeling very well—those sick, sick eyes--poor baby.

Cute sisters!

IMG_7543IMG_7547

I tried to cheer up Harriet after her doctor appointment (where she had 4 shots!) by taking the girls to go on a coin ride.  You know how they love their coin rides!

Thinking Hattie was feeling better, we went to the beach on Saturday.  Unfortunately, Elna got sick too, and was pretty miserable in the car.  She refused to eat anything all day long, and then she threw up a few times on the way home.  Poor girlie.

Hattie was in a pretty good mood though.

IMG_7553IMG_7566

They weren’t feeling great, but they still loved the beach!

The only thing Elna ate all day was the saltwater taffies we let her pick out.

On the way home, Hattie was still pretty happy, but was a little fussy on the last half.

IMG_7573IMG_7574

These pictures of her sleeping on the way home are just too sweet.  She is completely out in these pictures, but just looking as cute and sweet as can be—those little hands in the second picture.  I wish I could have just held her all the way home.

I realized that night they actually Hand Foot Mouth disease.  My friend had written a blog post about it the week before, or I wouldn’t have recognized the symptoms.  They both started getting little sores around their mouth, and then the bottoms of their feet and the palms of their hands.  As soon as I realized what it was I started putting the DoTerra oil blend “Purify” on them, and the next day they were much better, and no more showed up.  They either had a very mild case of HFM disease, or the oil blend worked miracles.  Either way I feel very blessed that it was mild!  The worst part of it was staying in the house for 10 days and not seeing friends, because it is very contagious.  Except for the first day of flu symptoms they were both as happy and healthy looking as if they never had anything, but it is contagious for about 10 days, so we stayed away from people!
