Rugged Maniac.

My friend, Joanna, asked me to do this fun race with her about a month ago.  She asked just a few days before it was happening, and I didn’t feel especially in shape for it, so I told her to try to find someone else.  She tried, but no one else could, so I went with her, and I am SO GLAD I did!  I loved it!  We had such a great time!

Before—all clean.

It was a 5K with 25 obstacles.

First obstacle—mud pit.

Then we did a whole bunch of other obstacles that Brian didn’t get pictures of because he wasn’t near us during them.  Some I remember: climbing up tall ladder walls, jumping over fire, walking across a beam over water (mentally, this was the hardest one for me), climbing up and then down tall bleachers with 25 lb bags around our neck, jumping over wide and deep pits (lots of them all in a row), crawling through underground tunnels that weren’t very big around, but pretty long, and very dark, and some others that I can’t remember now.

You can’t tell what’s going on here, but we are crawling down a rough/gravel/cement hill on our stomachs because there is barbed wire right above us.

More tunnels—they were pretty slippery on the way up.

This was probably the most challenging physically for us (and for everyone).  For people with amazing upper-body strength, it would be easier.

Once we got over it, we realized we had to do another one just like it…

This one challenged my upper body strength, but I did it!

This one would have been pretty easy had it not been so slippery.

Our cheerleaders!  Brian was a good sport to push these girls around while we did the race.  It was so fun for me to able see them at so many of the different obstacles.  Joanna and I are trying to convince our husbands to do it with us next year.  It was so much fun!

Wrapping up May.

A hummingbird flew into our sliding glass door and died.  Elna prayed for it and watched it for hours.

Brian spent 6 hours at an Emergency Preparedness expo that our stake helps with.  He was in charge of the knots station.

About to plant the blueberry plants. (Elna is showing me the sticker on her hand)

We took Elna to The Sound of Music that a local theatre group put on.  It was fantastic!  The director and about 6 of the kids in the play are in our ward and a bunch of kids from our stake were in it too.  I loved it and Elna did really well during it, with the help of fishy crackers every few seconds.  She still sings Do Re Mi about every day, which is very cute.

Sometimes we like to look at Elna during nursery.

Brian took this picture on a quick trip to Home Depot.  Elna wanted gum.  Hattie is consoling her…or at least that’s what we like to think.

Some selfies during Elna’s swim lessons.

Memorial day dinner outside at Grandma and Papa’s house.  They really loved the icecream sandwiches.

My cute family at Gresham’s Saturday market.  I love these people more than anything!
