First time Harriet let a dentist touch her mouth—it wasn’t without lots of tears though. She was not excited. Elna, on the other hand was the one getting a cavity filled, and maybe should have been scared, but Mickey Mouse (on the ceiling TV) got her through it—not at all phased.
Playing at the park.
My parents sent the girls the best toy! They haven’t spent a day without them since then. Magformers are the best! Thanks, Mom and Papa!
So fun!
A summer date night with my favorite guy! We did a 15 mile bike ride and stopped by some land that we would have bought if we could afford it. Alas, it has since been sold. Look at the view of Mt. Hood!
Washing the car with dad. They should have been wearing clothes, of course. And I kept telling Harriet not to pull her panties up like she is…but she thought it was hilarious. It probably didn’t help that I couldn’t stop laughing.
She makes me laugh hard most days.
She somehow caught a fly in that little container. Impressive, but gross.
My friend, Linnea, sent me this picture that was taken at her wedding. Brian looks like he is very casually dressed, because the wedding was supposed to be held at Latourell Falls, but because of rain, was switched to the church. Brian was on his way home from a High Adventure for scouts and they were supposed to land at the church, but they didn’t know about the wedding there—so they weren’t dressed for the occasion. I texted him to warn him of the wedding and tell them to be very quiet when they walked into the building.
Having a pool in our backyard—even a small one—is the best!
This girl in goggles—so many heart eyes!
It was rainy as we left Costco and the older girls put plates over their heads and I laughed that Georgia copied them.
Sleeping babies are the best!
Imagination Station (or the Church Park, as the girls like to call it, because it’s across from our church building)
Every morning when Brian leaves for work, the girls stand on this corner of our sidewalk and wave and yell until they can’t see him anymore. He waves out his window until he’s out of sight. It’s very sweet. I love this particular day because they were wearing wings that Elna had made out of construction paper.
Another day of waving. Elna’s Cinderella glove and their tutus. And you can spy Brian’s hand waving out the window.
Elna was telling ghost stories, so Harriet had to lie by the door with it open to fall asleep. No more ghost stories!
My mom made this quilt with her sisters. The fabrics are all from Carey Outlet dresses we wore as young girls. I love looking at each fabric and remembering a dress to go with it. My mom and several of her sisters all had daughters who wore Carey dresses, so for the last several years they have been taking apart the dresses, piecing the fabric, and then quilting the tops any time they have been together, and especially when they have been at their sisters weekend each year. I don’t know how many quilts were made, but I bet at least 10? It’s beautiful and such a treasure. I caught this picture of my girls telling each other their favorite fabrics, which I love!
When we came home from Yosemite we had a ton of blueberries on our bushes. Harriet reminds me here of Little Sal from Blueberries For Sal. Kurplink, kurplank, kurplunk went the blueberries in her pail.
More mornings than I would like, our girls have been getting into food (oatmeal, pretzels, blueberries etc.) while we are sleeping. This particular morning they were playing restaurant—see the box with money slots at the top? That was their cash register. They were obviously very proud of themselves. And it’s hard to be too mad at them when they are being so creative and when they get Georgia out of bed and feed her. But, the mess!
Playing at the Jameson Sqaure splash pad. It’s the best!
With their buddies, Chad and Chase.
I’ve yet to get a video of Georgia when she holds a baby doll, but if this picture had sound, you would hear her say “aaah” as she holds the doll close to her face. It’s adorable!
Waiting for dad to come home from work. We were there a lot longer than we thought we would be. Things to note: Harriet is sitting on a potty (that we don’t use), Elna looks like she could be 9 years old here, and Gigi is just sitting there like she’s one of the big girls.
Still waiting for dad,
Left: “How big is Georgia?” So big! And right: “where’s your nose?”
My favorite scene!
This is how our family trains for triathlons—Brian and I run, Hattie and Georgia are in the stroller (that Brian pushes), and Elna rides her bike.
I came out from putting Gigi down for a nap to find Harriet doing my dishes. Bless her sweet little heart—love her!
Her left foot in the air!
An afternoon at the river with friends.
Chad, Chase, Hayden, Hattie, Georgia, Elna, and William.
The picture above looks like we are having a kid-free vacation. The second picture is reality:
Georgia used to scream and scream at me when I tried to hold her popsicle. I obviously gave up on this battle, because she’s in charge now, and happy.
The girls made breakfast…oatmeal everywhere, again.
But boy do they look pleased.
Oatmeal everywhere. And Hattie!
More oatmeal…a lot to clean up, but it probably bought us 30 minutes of sleep. Worth it!
These two were being so sweet during church, I couldn’t resist a sneaky snap.
Hattie’s buddy, Chase, was visiting his grandparents in our ward—I took this picture through the door window to send Jillian. They were taking turns putting this bracelet on each other. Sweethearts!
Nursery can’t come fast enough for this gal…not that she will take well to the whole nursery idea. But we spend a lot of time in the hallway.
I don’t remember what happened, but Hattie threw a huge tantrum. A few minutes after I sent her to her room, I went in to check on her, and she was asleep like this.
The end…of July, at least.
