November little things!

Celebrating birthdays with some of my favorite people!

One morning during breakfast we saw this beautiful rainbow.  I ran out with my camera and told the girls to join me.  By the time they got out there, just a minute after me, it was gone.

Two things I love about these pictures: 1—the light in our dining room this evening.  2—my girls all playing so well together they didn’t notice me taking this picture.

We had parent teacher conference with Elna’s teacher.  Barbara met us at the school to take care of the girls during our meeting.  They girls loved playing with her at the park and we stayed for a bit afterward to play too.

Stroller walks with my girls are one of my favorite things.

I don’t remember the story behind this, but occasionally Elna will make our bed as an apology or to tell us she loves us.  It’s always without us asking though.  She is very driven and very sweet!

Dancing little girls!  Georgia loves when the girls play with her like this.

The girls always ask to take a picture with the flag in our yard

She wants to be held at every moment.

I took these pictures to send to Annie.  She gave these beautiful dress-ups to the girls—they obviously love them!

I love it when my girls act like they have no idea what I’m talking about when I ask about the makeup on their face.

I was at the end of my rope and stuck Georgia in her crib with a stack of board books.  She was happy for at least 15 minutes.  I need to remember this trick—I could use it at least once a day with her.  Update: since writing this, I have tried a couple of times to do this, and it hasn’t been a hit.  What would you do with an 18 month old who cries 90% of her waking time?  Really?  Any ideas?

Georgia started nursery!  Best day!  She loves it.  Harriet and Georgia will only be together in nursery for a month before Hattie goes to Sunbeams.  I loved looking in and seeing Harriet being so attentive to Georgia.

Our Christmas tree!

IMG_9169

We went the Saturday after Thanksgiving to get our Christmas tree.  I couldn’t wait to Christmas up in our house!

IMG_9171IMG_9170

Barbara came too!

IMG_9313

With the chosen tree!  This was our third year at this Christmas tree farm, but the pickings were slim this year—they all looked a little diseased or something-- this was the pretty beautiful, but hard to find.  We’ll have to find a new place next year.

Thanksgiving

We had a quiet Thanksgiving this year.  Debby’s family, who we usually get together with, couldn’t come this year because they had other plans, so we spent it with just Brian’s family.  As I look at the picture below and the evidence of our addition that seems like it will never end, it really wasn’t a bad year to not have company—our house is such a disaster right now!

Elna made the sweet potato casserole all by herself from start to finish.  It was so fun to watch her!  She is so helpful and so good at finishing what she starts!  It was delicious!

Then the girls helped with the cranberry sauce.

I love the Thanksgiving feeling of all being together in the kitchen working together.  It was such a happy day with my little family!

In the afternoon we headed over to Brian’s parents where Elna continued to be very helpful.

We have so much to be thankful for!  One of our greatest blessings is living so close to family.  The girls love their grandparents!

Sunday Harris girls.

I love taking regular pictures of these girls after church on Sunday to see how they grow and change.

Georgia’s smile always feels like such a gift.  We are so blessed to have these three girls!

Christmas lights and an afternoon with Georgia

IMG_4364IMG_4366

On a dry and relatively warm Saturday in November, we decided to get the Christmas lights up on the outside of the house.  The girls slept at Brian’s parents house the night before, and Barbara took them to dance the next morning, but dropped Georgia off for her morning nap before taking off with the older girls for ballet.  After her nap, Georgia joined us (Brian mostly) with putting lights up.

Brian is so happy to put these lights up every year!  He loves making things magical for the girls!

IMG_4385

This face is one Georgia makes when copying a similar face that we make at her.  It’s hilarious when she does it in person.

I love having one-on-one time with our girls occasionally—we sure love this girl!
