The girls and I hiked to Horsetail Falls on one of Elna’s days off. I asked the girls if they wanted to go to the beach, the zoo, or on a hike, and I was surprised, but happy, that they chose the hike. I haven’t really hiked since Harriet was riding on my back—she was Georgia’s age then, and we hiked a ton—but then I got pregnant with Georgia (sick), had a newborn (hadn’t figured out how to juggle 3), and then Georgia grew up and proved to be quite a handful and I never figured out how to juggle three. It felt good to back at it!
It’s a pretty cool hike. You can go behind the waterfall, and there’s almost a cave-like area behind there. That’s were we ate lunch and rested before heading back down.
Elna took this picture!
A nice man took these pictures of us. This one he took just above was of us walking back to where he was, and Elna had just accidentally spilled all of the lunch on the ground, so we were just scrambling to pick it all up.
They were holding hands on the way back down.
The real reason Elna picked a hike today was because she knew it would end with ice cream in Cascade Locks.
After ice cream we went to a nearby park and played for a long time.
Harriet and Georgia ^^ I love it when my kids love each other!
Happy girls at the end of a fun and full day!
