Getting ready for kindergarten

IMG_7406

The week before school started, Elna and I went to a kindergarten open house.  We met the principal and her teacher, Ms. Butler.  We also found one other person we knew going to kindergarten at Sweetbriar—a friend from her primary class.  I think she really enjoyed it.

Then, a few days before school started, I took Elna on a little date to get her first-day-of-school outfit.  She had a VERY hard time deciding on just one outfit.  She wanted about 10.

She didn’t pink this outfit in the end, but she loved that we matched, and so did I.  I hope she’ll love me like this forever.

I sure like matching her!

Blurry, but cute pictures of the outfit she did choose!  I love it!

Afterwards we went to IHOP—her choice.  Because she wanted hot chocolate.  “That place that we went to when Jared and Deborah were here that has hot chocolate”  We had such a fun time eating and chatting.  I tried to convince her to skip kindergarten and stay home another year.  She laughed and said no.  I told her I’d buy her a school bus (the real reason she wanted to go to school), give her $100, then $200 (she could go back and buy all of the outfits), a trip to Hawaii, or a trip to Disneyland, but no, no, and more no’s.  Until I told her about all of the Disney princesses she would meet at Disney.  There was a long pause, and then, “can you give me a few days to think about it?”  Ha!  I’m just really going to miss this girl!
