Last year on our trip home from Yosemite I realized that this year at Yosemite would be right after my parents 40th anniversary! So I texted Annie, and we decided to throw them a surprise anniversary party. We had a fun time planning and making it happen!
I was in charge of the cakes—their wedding cake was carrot cake, so I got a carrot cake from a favorite bakery and made a vegan carrot cake for mom and the other vegans. Annie made those amazing party hats! Each party hat had a different wedding picture or a family picture. They were so cute! We also gave them an enlarged photo of our family with the promise of printing it as a photograph and framing it to put it over their bed—but we wanted their input on it before making the decisions for them.
We got donuts for the kids, because we knew they would like those best.
We had such a fun time planning this together!
The reason to celebrate! And the reason we all exist—yay! They are wonderful!!
Annie had the fun idea to bring a fabulous dress that Papa gave Mom for a BYU ball they attended when they were dating and a bride’s maid dress from their wedding (that Aunt Ann still has!)
We played a fun game—the shoe game—where questions were asked and Mom and Papa either raised their own shoe or the other’s shoe to answer. It was entertaining!
They were good sports to reenact the cake cutting from their wedding. It was a fun evening and a great week celebrating our parents! I love them so much!
How fun! You guys did such a great job. I'm glad that the Clark family has been around for 40 years.
