Cousins (part 3)–Zoo

Brian took Tuesday off from work the week Char and the kids were in town.  We were planning on going to Bullwinkle’s (a place that has bumper cars and little rides) with Brian’s parents, Chris, and Char’s family, but that morning Brian got a call to come over quickly to his parents house because Brian’s dad thought he had had a stroke and needed help getting out of bed and into the car.  Unfortunately, his dad was right—he had had a stroke.  So sad!  He and Barbara spent the day at the hospital, and we ended up going to the zoo instead.  The zoo was fun, but we missed DeWin and Barbara!

She looks happy here, but she’s actually screaming at Brian because she doesn’t want to come out of the tunnel.

This is how she was feeling by the end of the day.  A very tired selfie.

We loved watching Elna with her cousins.  She loves them!  Wish they lived closer!

33!

I had such a fun birthday week!  I don’t think I cooked one time in the week leading up to my birthday, and that’s about all it takes to make a fabulous birthday, right?  We took advantage of birthday meals at a few different restaurants.  First up, Veggie Grill:

Look at the chocolaty face.  H liked the pudding!

For some reason we have a hard time going to Veggie Grill without going to Voodoo Donut on our way home.  After getting our donuts, Elna wanted to go on this elephant coin ride that is inside the shop.  This ride was crazy!  They have a warning and we should have heeded it.  Poor girl.  We had Hattie on there too for a few seconds.  Brian and I were dying laughing.  I’m surprised she didn’t get whiplash!  Brian and I were dying from laughter, but took her off when we could tell the panic was setting in:

The night before my birthday we got a babysitter and Brian and I went to Chevy’s for another free meal.  We love free birthday meals!

I opted out of the birthday song, but thought Elna might like the hat.

The rest of the week was a blur, but I know it was good.  We played Rook a few nights with some good friends and I know we ate out a few more times that I didn’t get pictures of.

My actual birthday was pretty low-key, which is kind of the story of my life when it lands on General Conference weekend—especially when it’s a Sunday.  But my birthday week was so fabulous, it didn’t really matter.  And Brian and the girls made my actual birthday very special too.  I am a lucky, lucky girl!
