Willamette National Cemetery.

The day before Memorial Day we decided to head out to Willamette National Cemetery to see all of the flags that the scouts had placed on each of the gravestones.  When Brian was a little boy, as soon as he became a scout he started helping with this huge project every year.  It’s a big job—I think there are about 170,000 graves in the cemetery and each grave had a flag.  It was beautiful and such a great experience for our family to visit.  I am very grateful for the men and women who fight for our country.  I love patriotic holidays!

On our way—I was obviously a little picture happy that day to be taking pictures in the car.

We got to the cemetery, and Elna was off and running.  We tried to teach reverence, but it’s a hard thing for a little girl to learn when there is so much space to run.  She actually did pretty good overall.  I love this picture of her taking off, with her baby.
