The girls are both taking swim lessons right now. Before this class Elna was in a mer-babes class that I came into the pool with her. She was so brave and doing so well in that class that the teacher recommended she skip the next class and go into the P2 class.
Elna is the youngest in this class and the first day it was very hard to watch because she wouldn’t stay on the step when the teacher asked her to. There are about 6-8 kids in the class and since none of them swim yet it’s important that they stay on the step on the side of of the pool when the teacher is working with another kid. Elna kept wandering off and would walk out until she couldn’t touch anymore and the teacher kept having to go after her. We did a lot of role-playing before her next lesson and her teacher said that she is doing so much better now.
Harriet was not a fan of her first class until about 5 minutes before it ended. She kind of fussed a lot and gripped onto me very tightly.
The next pictures are from her second class, which she really loved! I guess she just had to warm up to the idea:
This is Elna’s last day of class. We were allowed to watch her first and last class. She made so much improvement and was basically swimming by the end of this 5 week (10 lesson) class:
Swimming under water—she hardly ever comes up for air, but at least she doesn’t have a fear of putting her head all the way under.
Elna did so well that her teachers passed her and recommend she go into P3, which is 4 and 5 year olds. She’s still 2! We’re certainly biased, but we think she’s pretty amazing!
A blurry picture of Elna with her two teachers who she loved—Theresa and Katie.
I think it is great that you are getting them used to the water. It's definitely a great skill to have. Love the pictures of your two cuties. :)
