I wish I had taken more pictures of this baby girl bump. The last I took I think was at 20 weeks and I wasn’t showing tons. Right after that picture I popped out, and now I am huge! I’m pretty sure I was this big when I delivered Clark. And I still have 7 weeks to go…
I’m feeling so much better! I’m walking or doing yoga every day and trying to get my body ready for a healthy and productive labor and delivery. I’m happy to be back to a plant-based diet. I feel strong and have plenty of energy. The hardest thing has been sleeping at night—my darn hips are getting super sore. I’m so looking forward to being able to sleep on my tummy again!
Things are coming together in the nursery! In his spare time (which is super limited right now because of tax season) Brian has been busy building a beautiful shelf for the nursery (pictures to come soon!). He also installed hanging rods in the nursery closet and is planning on building closet shelves soon.
I’m starting to realize that I know very little about motherhood and infants. Like, I probably should have signed up for a breastfeeding class, but the classes are all full and now I can’t. And I was hoping to take a hypnobirthing class, but they are like $300 so I need to read the book, but I really haven’t. And I need to learn how to swaddle. And I need to read How to Solve Your Child’s Sleep Problems, but haven’t. And Happiest Baby on the Block. And those are just the things I thought of in like 2 seconds. What about everything else? I’m sure hoping my mom will be able to make it right after the baby is born! Any advise from you mothers out there?
my advice is to read up on stuff if it makes you feel better, but realize that it may all go out the window when you are actually faced with the situation. trust your instincts. you will be amazed at how intuitive some things can be.
ReplyDeleteyou're beautiful, and you'll know everything you need to know. and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
ReplyDeleteYou look SO cute!
ReplyDeleteAlso, my advice? Ignore ALL that stuff you listed and go with instincts. God has given you (and Brian) instincts to care for your child. You'll pick it up as you go and you are surrounded by people that will be happy to help along the way.
hooray!
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm a book reader (and follower!) so say: read your books!
And above all love that little lady with all you've got and it'll work out.
Baby girl, I ain't no mother, but I say we take this on like any other project we've done... Shootin' from the hip and just lettin' it ride!
ReplyDeleteYou look just darling!!!! You have so many wonderful women in your family ,they will help you tons!!! We all will!! My guess is you will be a natural Mother!
ReplyDeleteI like the hair, and the bump!
ReplyDeleteYou don't look big to me at all - I love your pregnant figure. Also, happy birthday yesterday! I meant to write you an email, but got deathly ill with strep, and went to bed at 5. (how's that for an excuse)
ReplyDeleteOnly advice is trust your instincts and enjoy. You will do great! And it's one day at a time :)
ReplyDeleteThey have the happiest baby on the block in movie form. I didn't read the whole book but took the ideas from "BabyWise". The pattern is wake, feed, play, sleep. So they learn to fall asleep while eating, which reduces gas that can wake them up early. Really, You are going to be amazing. Enjoy every second.
ReplyDeleteMy advice? Take a gazillion pictures. Sleep when the baby sleeps. More pictures. More sleep. Repeat as necessary.
ReplyDelete(I've never been to a hospital with newborns that doesn't offer breastfeeding classes, and one on one advice.)Plus, there's always the Orva and Ann connection.
You don't look big at all! So exciting that it's getting close! And I meant to say Happy Birthday too- I thought about it a few times that day but never sat down to write. You will be a fabulous mom. I felt better when I read all the books and prepared as much as I could, even though the real thing isn't always like they say it is.
ReplyDeletethis is liza by the way. apparently I'm logged in as brent's office.
ReplyDeleteDepending on where you are delivering, use the hospitals lactation specialist. They are a huge help. You can go in and see them for help even after you are discharged from the hospital. A little guidance from a specialist will prevent aggravation and pain later. Everyone thinks that breastfeeding comes naturally, maybe, but some babies don't know that.
ReplyDeleteLucy, I loved Happiest Baby on the Block. My opinion is that it's great to be well-informed and well-read beforehand--I don't like going out into the unknown without a clue--and to do what feels right to you afterwards. I just think it's wonderful to know what to expect, as much as you can, even if your experience isn't exactly like anyone else's. My other opinion is just to enjoy your baby girl and soak up her tiny sleeping curled-up days as much as is possible--they don't stay little too long. Good luck! I'm super excited for you! :)
