A few days after Brian leaned these boards against our house after cutting them for our garden boxes, we noticed this nest.  In only 2 days they had built it—they were very busy.  I think it’s beautiful.

The picture on the right isn’t great, but it’s one of the birds with it’s beak filled with twigs and stuff to add to the nest.  We felt awful that he had to move it after so much effort was put into it.

Brian took these funny pictures of Elna enjoying some raw broccoli.

The one on the left is so funny to me.  Love that there is broccoli in her hair and that her hair is just all over the place.

More April happenings.

Elna and her Grandpa Harris getting in some reading time.

I took these pictures of her because I was loving that she was kneeling—too cute!  And she kneels like me with my feet curled in.

Elna’s tongue does the most darling things when she’s practicing her “la la la”s.

She’s becoming quite the talker, saying “ba” and “da” and lots of “la”s.  When I say “ma ma” she usually replies “la la la.”

Our conversations often go something like this:

Lucy- “say mama. ma ma ma”

Elna- “la la la la la”

Lucy- “ma ma ma”

Elna- “la la la”

The Harris family with our newest addition—an orange tree!  Brian really loves it!  I got it & the pot for him for Christmas, but the tree just barely arrived.  We planted it Saturday and decided to take a picture with it yesterday after church.  Brian also took about 15 other pictures of just it, but they all looked about the same, so I just included this one.  (It’s in a pot because we might have to take it inside during the coldest parts of our winters)

Today was Brian’s last big day of tax season craziness.  Tomorrow should be a short day for him, and then he is taking 5 days off.  We’re taking a vacation at home!  Elna and I are so ready to spend some good quality time with Brian!

Conference weekend.

Two weekends ago we really enjoyed being able to watch General Conference.  I always feel so motivated after listening to the prophets!  Brian worked Saturday from 5 a.m. until 6 p.m. that day, so I watched with Elna.  I was surprised how much I was able to listen to while juggling Elna.  My favorite talk was Elder Holland’s.  It seems whenever Elder Holland speaks I feel such a huge desire to be better.  This talk especially motivated me to want to be kinder and more merciful.  I loved when he said, “Be kind, and be grateful that God is kind. It is a happy way to live.”  Amen!

I hope I always remember her joy about bath time—she quivers with excitement, “bah bah bah bah”

When Brian and his brothers were little they would often spend Sunday afternoons sliding down the stairs on a mattress.  Brian thought it would be fun for Elna to experience this thrill, so Sunday he set up the mattress, got a sleeping bag out, and set Elna in it.  Elna loved it for most of the time—until the very end when she got hurt.  Of course that was the only time we got it on video.  IMG_1536

It may not look like it here, but that is a very happy face from Elna.

This is worth watching:

Grandma Fae offered to give Elna a bath after dinner Sunday night.  Elna had such a fun time with Grandma.  It was fun to listen to Grandma talking and singing to Elna.  DeWin said something sweet about Barbara while we were still sitting around the table finishing up dinner—he said something like, “one of things she enjoyed most about being a mother was bath time.”  She really does seem to delight in giving Elna a bath and Elna loves it too!
