Memorial Day.

The Thursday before Memorial Day, Brian took the older girls to help place flags at the Willamette National Cemetery.  Our ward scouts (and hundreds of other scouts in the area) do it every year, but this year the Young Women went too.  This is the second year our little girls have done it, and it’s so neat!  I love that they are able to feel reverence—even at such a young age—for the men and women who have fought for our country and to experience the strength of serving with so many others to honor those veterans.  I had planned on going too, but Georgia had other plans when she decided to skip her afternoon nap.

Splash pad!

We went to the splash pad with friends a couple of times in one week:

I love it when this girl is happy!

She loves water!

If all days were warm like this day, I would never, ever, grow tired of it.  We are all happiest when the sun is out and we can get out of the house and play.  Here’s to the next 5 months of me being a super nice, fun mom.  (After that I have to try a little harder…)

Harriet is kind of hilarious at splash pads.  She doesn’t touch the water, but just kind of dances around the perimeter or wanders around and makes me nervous when I can’t find her.  This day, Jillian and I were talking and watching the kids, when another group of moms were like, “is that your little girl over there?” and it was—Harriet was behind us about 30 feet and standing on the sidewalk near the ice cream truck— ice cream trucks make me kind of nervous for some reason, so I was super grateful those moms thought to mention the fact that Hattie had wandered off.  I really have to keep my eye on this little girl!

I’m not very good at wearing sunglasses (they kind of bug me, but I try to, because I know they are healthy for my eyes), so I’m always so impressed when my children keep their sunglasses on all day.

Mother’s Day.

IMG_3394

Being a mama was my very greatest dream.  It certainly isn’t always dreamy, but these girls are so so much more than I could have ever dreamed up.  I had no idea how hard it would be, but man oh man, the love!  I have never loved anything like I love these girls of mine.

The girl who made me a mama!  She’s perfect!

Seis de Mayo.

When you forget the Cinco de Mayo, you celebrate the seis de Mayo the next day—complete with festive dresses, mariachis, chips and salsa for lunch, and a yummy Mexican dinner.

We took a walk to Elna’s (soon to be) elementary school to turn in her kindergarten application, and I took this sweet picture of her walking home.  I can’t believe she’s old enough to go to kindergarten!  She is wonderful!

Library and Dad’s office.

We went to a Fancy Nancy party at the library:

The girls looked pretty fancy.

We can’t go to the library without going next door to Dad’s office.

Georgia is pretty tricky to keep happy in the car, but when I gave this mirror to her, it sure helped…for a day or two.
