The little things in June.

Georgia’s first postcard from Grandfather Clark.

This picture makes me so so happy.  Elna’s hat is a set of “listening ears” that she got from her Sunbeam teacher at church.  Hattie really wanted one, and without any persuading or help from us, Elna whipped up a “listening ears” hat just for Hattie.  Look closely to what Hattie is holding—her hands are holding the ears and the tube part is supposed to be the hat that sits on her head—a little small for her head, but so extremely thoughtful and wonderful, I can hardly stand it.  These kinds of things give me hope that my children might actually be good people who don’t just whine and fight all day.

The thing about blogging 3 months after taking pictures is that when you actually do blog, you want to cry because of how fast your little baby has already grown.  Why does this stage go so so fast?  I miss how small and sleepy she was!

Raspberry picking—the girls spent at least one hour each day picking raspberries during raspberry season.

This was at her 1 week doctor appointment, and when I realized she might need to be a tummy sleeper.  Her doctor put her on her tummy and she calmed right down and was just so content.

Still such a newborn in these pictures.  It’s so fleeting.

While we were at the doctor, the girls went on a little hike with dad from our neighborhood, down through a creek, and up into Brian’s parents neighborhood.  I picked them up on the other side.  It was a fun adventure for the girls!

Georgia and my good friend, Shaylee Stevenson.  She was my nurse on the day Georgia was born.  Such a sweet friend.  She and her family moved back to UT at the end of June after her husband finished chiropractic school.

Georgia was crying and I wasn’t able to get to her fast enough…when I walked in Elna was lying next to her trying to calm her down.  Such a sweet moment!

Such flair!

I went in to check on the girls before I went to sleep and both of them had put their dolls under their shirts and fallen asleep this way.

On Father’s Day, Elna gave her first talk on primary.  It was about how the Holy Ghost can guide and protect us.  She talked about Mary Fielding Smith and how she was able to find her missing oxen after she prayed.  She did such a fabulous job!  She worked hard every day the week leading up to her talk, reciting it over and over again, and then on Sunday she gave it without any help—only the cards that I had drawn out for her.  She stood up at the podium all by herself and delivered it so well!  We are so proud of her!

This girl loves blueberries!  On Father’s Day we went up to Larch Mountain for a picnic and small hike.  We had stuffed shells (Brian’s fav!) and fruits and veggies for dinner and then hiked to a point where you could see Mount Jefferson, Mt. Hood, Mt. Adams, Mt. Rainier, and Mt. St. Helens.  Amazing view!!

A highlight of our month was visiting with Uncle David, who was in town with his friend, Sam.  We had dinner at some food carts downtown, and had a great time catching up with each other.  David is wonderful and we have loved it every time he visits!

Wrinkly chicken legs—we’re used to fat chunky thighs at our house—both on our newborns and on us (ha!), so Georgia’s scrawny legs are so funny to me.

Georgia and Mama.

IMG_1110

Brian took a ton of pictures one Sunday afternoon when I was out picking raspberries with Georgia in our backyard.  I feel a little self-centered posting them—this is just a small fraction of them—but I love having pictures of me and newborns so I can remember this stage that I love so much and how they nuzzle their cute little faces into my neck and love me.  Oh, I love my babies!
