Easter, General Conference, and a birthday.

Dying Easter eggs.  The girls loved it!

The Friday before Easter while I had a doctor appointment, the girls made and decorated Easter bunny cakes with Grandma.  She is so fun!  They thought it was pretty great!

The finished products were pretty cute!  Brian did this with his mom when he was a little kid too.

Elna’s primary teacher gave each kid a set of 12 Easter eggs with items in each egg that represented a certain part of the Easter week.  The week before Easter we opened a few each night and talked about them, and then we finished Easter morning.  We are so impressed with how much Elna retains from her primary lessons.  She knew what each of the items meant because her teacher had told her in her primary lesson.  She’s a bright little girl!

The girls and I made these cute little napkin rings out of a cut up egg carton.  Mostly they just helped paint.  They turned out pretty cute, I think.  We also made the yummy pudding cups for dessert over at Brian’s parents house.

General Conference was also on Easter weekend, so we spent time as a family watching that together.

Brian also painted the girls’ fingernails and toes during conference, which they always love.  He probably paints their nails a few times a month and I love it!

My birthday was on the Monday after Easter.  Brian already had Friday off because of Good Friday, and he also took Monday off for my birthday, so it was fun to have 4 days with him!  On my actual birthday we went to PF Changs, which I had been craving for months.  He also bought me a few new outfits and these mangos—I love, love mangos!  It was a perfect day!

The little things in March.

Helping me make a chocolate smoothie.  Harriet calls all smoothies “chocolate smoothies”, but this really was a chocolate one.

The girls love touching my tummy and talking to the baby.

Brian took these pictures of the girls looking at the frogs in his parents’ pond.

We love it when the light catches the prisms on our kitchen chandelier just right in the morning to make all of these amazing rainbow reflections all over.  The girls ask me make the light dance-- to wiggle the chandelier so that the little light reflections move all around the kitchen.  It really is beautiful!

Elna almost never naps anymore, and hasn’t in over a year, but on this day she happened to fall asleep during quiet time and was sleeping for such a long time, I knew if we didn’t wake her up she wouldn’t sleep that night.  When Hattie and I went in to wake her, Hattie said “Good morning, Sweetheart! Time to wake up!”  And then we all cuddled for a while on the top bunk.

The girls were pretending to sleep and thought they were so cute and clever.  They really are very cute!

I love how well they usually play in the morning when they wake up too early and I am still trying to sleep a little.

Grandma and Papa gave this horse to Hattie for her birthday.  When you push a button it starts to neigh and walk.  The first time it happened was right after this picture was taken  on the kitchen island, and Harriet freaked out so much she almost fell off of her stool.  She was genuinely terrified, and still is pretty nervous of it a month later.

Reading with my girls is one of my favorite things to do as a mom.

Hattie’s first time going on the toilet.  She had just gotten out of the bathtub and was running around the house, when she started running back to the bathroom yelling that she needed to peep in the toilet.  And she did!  She’s totally ready to be potty trained…I’m just not ready.

Sometimes the girls ask me to take a picture of them.  Okay, if I must…

We spent a morning at our friends house—they recently moved out to the country in Corbett—about 10 minutes away from us.  They used to live just down the street from us, so we miss them, but they have such a great house and land now and it is fun to visit them there.  They girls loved holding their baby chicks.
