Hattie’s birthday!

Birthday cake pancakes for the birthday girl!  They don’t look awesome, but they are actually pretty good!

After library time we picked up balloons and then Jamba Juice treats.

Then the girls helped me make a birthday cake before nap time.  I really want to never make a birthday cake again—they just never really turn out—I hope I remember by the next birthday.  This one looked okay in the end, but was very tricky to keep together as I was doing it.

When Brian got home I tried to get some 2-year old pictures of Hattie, with not much success:

The quality of these pictures (in auto mode on my camera) made me decide after this to finally start using manual mode on my camera.

When Brian got home we went over to Grandma and Papa’s house to celebrate Harriet!

She looks worn out!  I hope she had a good day and that she felt how much we love her.  She is such a light in our life!  She makes every moment so much better and we are lucky to have her!

St. Patrick’s day.

 

We like to keep expectations very low around here.  Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

They were thrilled!

This isn’t very St. Patrick’s day-ish, but it was taken on the day—a sweet moment where they are sharing a favorite space (between closet doors) and a favorite toy—a computer from Grandma that usually is kept hidden  because it causes fights.  In fact, I’m sure it was stowed away later that day and hasn’t come out since…which is fine with me. 

At the park behind our house on the baseball field.  I don’t remember what they are doing here, but they sure look cute doing it—in their green outfits.

A day off with Dad.

Brian had a day off in March-  we can’t remember what for anymore, but we loved spending it with him!

Elna did this ride almost a year ago too, but each time I’ve been a little surprised that she does it.  So brave!

Harriet was a little nervous the first time around, but she warmed up and loved it.

Stroller walks.

One of our favorite things to do is go on walks through the neighborhood with the girls’ strollers and babies.  Especially when it has been rainy, I appreciate the fact the sidewalks are dry, but we can still get outside,  enjoy the weather, and use some energy—parks can be muddy! 

Sometimes we just need to get out of the house ASAP, so we go in our pajamas!

I find so much joy in watching Hattie enjoy every flower, leaf, rock, or animal.  You’ll see how much I like it, by how many pictures I take of her stopping.  She stops every few feet, and since we are never in a hurry, we just enjoy it.

Elna does a lot of waiting, and Harriet does a lot of catching up.

Hattie spent about 5 minutes putting leaves from the sidewalk back under the tree.  To clean up all of them would have taken hours for her.

I had a hard time weeding out pictures in this post (obviously) because these are the moments I really want to remember, so I mostly included every one of the ones I took—it is my blog after all :)

A day in the life of Snow White and a ballerina.

Some of my favorite pictures of these girls are when they are running—happy, natural smiles!  They were so cute, I may have gone a little overboard with pictures.

I love it when I find these two reading together.  Elna was reading Fancy Nancy to Hattie and it was hilarious to watch.  This was a new book to Elna—I had only read it maybe 3 times to her, but she remembered so much about it.  If you want to see the cuteness, you can watch the video below: (my favorite part is when she says “Mommy knows French!”)  Elna is just such a fun, sweet, smart girl!
